Clinical Observations of Pefloxacin on Urinary Tract and Respiratory Tract Infection

Abstract
The clinical effects of Pefloxacin was observed in 17 cases of urinary tract infection and 13 cases of respiratory tract infection between October 1986 and February 1987. The results are as follows;
1. Overall efficacy rate of therapy was 94.1% in urinary tract infection and 92.3% in respiratory tract in fection.
2. In 2 cases (6.7%), one case revealed gastrointestinal symptoms and the other, neurologic symptoms, but no serious side reaction was observed.
3. There were no significant change in WBC count, platelet count, prothrombin time, serum creatiline, SGPT and alkaline phosphatase during and after treatment.
4. Mean duration of treatment was 6.4¡¾2.2 days in urinary tract infection and 9.8¡¾4.3 days in respitory tract infection.
It can be considered that Pefloxacin is a safe and effective antibiotic agent that used orally in the t eatment of urinary tract infection and respiratory tract infection.
